The Indians will not make qualifying offers to free agents Mike Napoli and Rajai Davis. A qualifying offer is worth $17.2 million and had to be offered to a team's free agents by Monday at 5 p.m.

Chris Antonetti, Indians director of baseball operations, indicated that the Indians will continue to try and sign both players. Monday is the final day teams have exclusive rights to sign their own free agents. Starting Tuesday other teams can bid on those players.

By not making Napoli and Davis qualifying offers, it means the Indians cannot be compensated with drafts picks if they sign with another team. Napoli and Davis, if they had received qualifying offers, could have accepted them and be bound to the Indians for one year.

Napoli and Davis, who signed one-year contracts last offseason, helped the Indians win their first division title since 2007, their first pennant since 1997 and reach Game 7 of the World Series. Napoli, 35, set career highs with 34 homers, 101 RBI and 194 strikeouts in the regular season.

In the postseason, however, Napoli struggled. He hit .173 (9-for-52) with one homer, three RBI and 21 strikeouts.
Davis hit just .183 (5-for-34) in the postseason with one homer and four RBI. Davis' lone homer came in the eighth inning of Game 7 of the World Series an pulled the Indians into a 6-6 tie against the Cubs. The Indians lost the game and the series, 8-7, in 10 innings.

In Game 5, Davis became the oldest man in history to steal three bases in one game. The Indians signed him to a one-year $5.25 million deal in December.
