In 1633, a rebellion erupted, and the king's brother allied with Ladakh's royal family to attack Guge's capital. Despite the fortified palace, Ladakh forced the Guge people to build a stone tower, singing songs of hardship. Moved by their plight, the king tragically jumped off a cliff.
