15-Year-Old CiCi Bellis Becomes Youngest to Win at US Open Since '96

File this under stunner. 15-year-old American wild card CiCi Bellis knocked
off this year’s Australian Open finalist Dominika Cibulkova in three sets on
Day 2 to become the youngest player to win a match at the US Open since Anna
Kournikova in 1996.
The American’s 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory sets up a second-round clash with Zarina
Diyas of Kazakhstan.
"I went into the match thinking it was going to be such a great experience, but
I never thought I would come out on top winning," Bellis told reporters after
the match.
Bellis, who earned her wild card by winning the USTA’s 18-and-younger National
Playoff, also becomes the youngest American to win a match at the US Open since
Mary Joe Fernandez reached the third round as a 14-year-old in 1986.
As the match progressed, the scene on Court 6 became quite frenzied. Fans
packed in like sardines to watch the Atherton, California native make her own
slice of US Open history. ESPN, the main provider for the US Open in the United
States, even moved cameras over to the court (normally not television-ready) in
order to bring the action to its viewers.
Bellis didn’t disappoint. She cracked winners aggressively, taking the play to
Cibulkova until finally closing out the colossal upset as the crowd went wild.
Afterwards, she gave an impromptu interview to ESPN’s Darren Cahill. “I have
no words,” said Bellis. “I’m so happy to be here. I can’t believe I got
through that.”

稍早，在美國網球協會舉辦的18歲以下外卡戰奪冠而順利拿到外卡資格的Bellis，首輪以
三盤的比數擊敗12種子Cibulkova晉級第二輪。
年僅15歲的她(1999年生！)，是繼1996年Kournikova以來(也只比他小了兩個月)在美網單
打贏球最年輕的選手，也是1986年的Mary Joe Fernandez之後，最年輕獲得美網首勝的美
國人。
有趣的是，她與Cibulkova比賽的第六球場原本並不在轉播場地之內，美國ESPN還特地移動
攝影機到第六球場就為了Bellis的首勝，而她也不負眾望的拿下勝利讓現場為之瘋狂。
連結裡有當時人潮蜂擁至第六球場的照片，還有Bellis在2011年12歲時跟莎娃和韓娃的合
照，賽後訪問看的出也聽的出她真的就是位小朋友無誤！
去年年僅17歲的美國黑人小將Duval也在美網戰勝種子選手Stosur而一戰成名，這幾年美
國女子選手一直有不錯的新秀冒出頭，包括現在正與小威出戰的Townsend，再加上Bellis
，美國女網的未來比男網更讓人期待！
