Important detail about Mets’ Edwin Diaz deal as it impacts this offseason, per
sources: $26.5 mil of the contract is deferred,
which is intended to lower the C
BT (luxury tax) number. Mets didn’t want to begin offseason by adding ~$20 AAV
to CBT.
