Georgia: Thousands rally in Tbilisi in support for Ukraine
Thousands rallied in central Tbilisi on Thursday evening against the Russian
military operation in Ukraine.
The protesters marched from Republic Square to the Freedom Square in central
Tbilisi while holding Ukrainian flags and chanting slogans supporting Kiev.
President Putin announced military operations against the country on Thursday
morning.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted that cities were under
bombardment.
"This is a war of aggression. Ukraine will defend itself and will win. The
world can and must stop Putin. The time to act is now," Kuleba tweeted.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed martial law throughout the
country and cut off diplomatic ties with Russia following the announcement.
The United States, EU, and other western nations have vowed to impose 'massive
sanctions' on Russia due to the military assault.
